Wall of Sound presents “2015 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by LO!’s Carl Whitbread
Joining Wall of Sound for today’s dose of 2015 ‘The Year in Review’ is Carl Whitbread, guitarist of Sydney’s sludge/hardcore/metal conglomerate, LO!!
LO! started the year on a ‘bummer’ of a note with news that EyeHateGod had canned their Australian tour and therefore, LO!‘s supporting appearance however it was all north from that point on. The band released a new music video, ‘Orca’ in late January and immediately garnished priase both in the music industry and the video makers, nationally and abroad. The pink goo and gas masks combined beautifully amongst the brute force of the track and the video went on to win a few awards including the prestigious Miami short film festival for ‘Best Music Video’. From there, the EP, The Tongueless was released in February and the international tour supports rolled in, firstly with The Ocean Collective in April followed by Red Fang in May.
A host of local shows ensued throughout the year including an appearance on ‘Slaughterfest VIII’ at Valve Bar, Sydney in August. The band has more recently played shows with Perth’s Förstöra and Sanzu.
Whitbread has delved far and wide for his run down of 2015’s best of the best, some local talent and some far ranging. So get out your search engines and enjoy his look back on the year that was…..
