It's always a treat to wake up to new music, especially when it is a surprise single drop from one of Perth/Boorloo's most exciting bands Pincer+. The track 'Pulling Strings' is our first taste of what the band has in store for us this year, after last year's EP Hunting God Tapes Vol.2: Romance. It's the second bit of good news Aussie Pincer+ fans have gotten this week. On Monday, the band announced as the support act for the South African brutal death unit Vulvodynia; a much-anticipated venture for those who caught them supporting Emmure back in February.

As for 'Pulling Strings', that familiar crushing Pincer+ heaviness is front and centre. Unrelenting in aggression, it is forceful and hits all the right marks. As a trademark to the band's sound, as it is, it also signifies an evolution. It's intricate, catchy and will have you noticing new components on every listen.

On the new song, vocalist JacsonRobb says the track is about people who claim the victim after inciting the hurt and destruction themselves.

"A lot of people have dealt with manipulators, repressors, and generally toxic people in their lives... More often than not, these toxic types of people claw through life one victim at a time - following similar patterns of behaviour and burning down bridges, relationships, reputation and much of what lies in their path, later going on to victimise themselves and paint situations out as themselves being the ones that are hard done by. Nobody should have time for these sorts of people. This song is a call out to anyone that tries to pass off the toxicity of manipulation, play the victim and paint themselves as a decent human being. Get in the bin."
