Brissie-based band Virtues have paved their way in the scene longer than most of us realise. The former metalcore-turned-deathcore unit has bounced back from the release of 2020's Nothing Grows EP with a new sound they hope will appeal to the heavier side of the core scene. Evidence of that came with comeback single 'The House That Evil Built' and their latest face-smasher 'TheValley', which broods an overzealous sense of dread before opening up with fast riffs and gutturals aplenty.Ahead of the band's live debut of 'TheValley' at next weekend's Aftermath Festival, and speaking of their namesake, we sat grabbed frontman WadeFelsch to chat about personal virtues he follows in life and to associate them with bands/songs that best represent them. The end result will without a doubt have you throwing down... hard!
Patience
Justice for the Damned - 'The House You Built Is Burning'The payoff of the breakdown in this song is legit.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEeXjnHjVLY
Compassion
Fit for An Autopsy - 'Napalm Dreams'Fit For An Autopsy just write music that makes me feel things. 'Napalm Dreams' is haunting. I played this as my wife and I went down the aisle at our weddinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xDxgrggDNU
Loyalty
Bring Me The Horizon - 'Sleep With One Eye Open'I have bonded hard over the line: 'Best friends means forever cunt' with two of my best mates. We love old Bring Me in the Virtues camphttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDn7KXCp7Rg

Generosity
Parkway Drive - 'Wild Eyes'Parkway have always been about their fans and the crowd chants in their songs just reflect that with 'Wild Eyes' being my favourite representation.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykzedo--Vk8
Dignity
Knocked Loose - 'Billy No Mates'Knocked Loose is the definition of being unapologetically yourself and never straying from who and what you are under no circumstances. 'Billy No Mates' was the first to come to mind, but honestly, there isn't a bad Knocked track... and that's a straight fact.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lei58UXZzUQ
Altruism
Architects - 'Colony Collapse'Their music makes you feel that you need to do more for others and the world around you. Especially 'Colony Collapse'.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlzBRwkwJUE
