The 2017 Grammy Nominees are in... But who is more deserving of a win?

Another year has passed and yet another awards ceremony has made the nominations public for us all to judge and get our opinions across, and as usual The Grammys didn't disappoint when it comes to being lined up for disappointment.

We still continue to not focus on the shitty pop acts who obviously blow their managers work so hard so hard to get a nomination in almost every field (looking at you Beyoncé ) but mainly give credit where credit is due (sorta) to those bands who released some great music over the past year. Let's get into it

In the Best Rock Performance Category we have the likes of Alabama Shakes, Disturbed, Twenty One Pilots and Beyoncé (WTF?) up against the late and great David Bowie.

"Joe (Live From Austin City Limits)" — Alabama Shakes
"Don't Hurt Yourself" — Beyoncé Featuring Jack White
"Blackstar" — David Bowie
"The Sound Of Silence" — Disturbed
"Heathens" — Twenty One Pilots

My Prediction: David Bowie. It's a no brainer the man has a big influence on the music industry and his last album was a such an incredible piece of work. Post-Humorous Awards also tug on the heart strings and get people talking.

Heading to the Best Metal Performance (which in previous years has fucked it up royally) we have Baroness, Gojira, Korn, Megadeth and Periphery battling it out against each other in what would have to be one of the best selected finalists categories in years.

"Shock Me" — Baroness
"Slivera" — Gojira
"Rotting in Vain" — Korn
"Dystopia" — Megadeth
"The Price Is Wrong" — Periphery

My Prediction: Baroness. Great album by one of the hardest working bands in the scene who deserve nothing but praise for their work. They're touring Aus soon so may sure you catch these legends before the become to good for us.

The Best Rock Song is next and just by looking at the names in this list you're probably going to be given an immediate migraine. Rock can be categorised in many different ways but having Metallica and Twenty One Pilots against each other doesn't make sense. David Bowie is in there, as well as Radiohead and Highly Suspect.

"Blackstar" — David Bowie, songwriter (David Bowie)
"Burn the Witch" —Radiohead, songwriters (Radiohead)
"Hardwired" — James Hetfield & Lars Ulrich, songwriters (Metallica)
"Heathens" — Tyler Joseph, songwriter (Twenty One Pilots)
"My Name Is Human" — Rich Meyer, Ryan Meyer & Johnny Stevens, songwriters (Highly Suspect)

My Prediction: METALLICAAAAA. Because it's METALLICAAAAA. And that "Hardwired" song by METALLICAAA was some of METALLICAAA's best work to date. METALLICAAAAA... Also imagine the look on Dave Mustaine's face when they win!

Last but not least the Best Rock Album field is an interesting one, laughable in parts but hey they's what you get when Gojira is up against +44 Blink-182, Panic! at the Disco, Weezer and Cage the Elephant.

My Prediction: Panic! at the Disco. Say what you will, call me a fuckhead all you want but in regards to all the albums listed, Brendon Urie's work on this one was by far so superior than anything he has ever done in the past. It has the perfect combination of all different kinds of (pop) rock styles that really showcases what this man is capable of. Panic will be in Australia next month!

Time will tell whether I'm on the money, or completely off and should give up before I ruin any more credibility I don't have. But save your insults and check back here after Feb 12 2017 when the winners will be announced.
