Australian heavy rockers Snake Bite Whiskey have dropped their new stunner, ‘Tombstone Blues’. It’s their first new tune since 2021’s Black Candy LP. From AC/DC to Airbourne, Snake Bite Whiskey continues the Australian tradition of blues-laden riffs and ripping solos. You’ll wanna keep this one on rotation for your summer playlist.
As they ready for their Japanese tour (dates below), they’ve welcomed new drummer Karl Redmann and guitarists DC Steffe and Scuba Steve with this slab of fist-pumping, whiskey-drinking, beer-chasing rock. Steffe really gets his licks in as lead guitarist, squealing over the groove. The song sounds massive, thanks to Anthony Focx from Beautiful Creatures, who mixed and mastered the song in Nashville. Focx's other clients include Aerosmith, Buckcherry and Jason Newstead among others.
I reached out to DC and asked him about the riff:
“I wanted a riff that had a raw simplicity to it, but was also huge and would get people up on their feet. Some of the best riffs of all time are straight down the middle, and Tombstone Blues is no different. You can’t help but bang your head.”
The video fits the tune perfectly, showing the band performing to booze fueled crowds and in front of burning pyres. Hell they even show frontman Jay R lighting another bonfire before DC unleashes the solo.
Stream ‘Tombstone Blues’ here and keep an eye on local tour dates via their Facebook page.
