Lying peacefully in a meadow of freshly blossoming flowers on a warm spring day, there’s nothing better. That’s how we last felt when Slowly Slowly’s - Daisy Chain (2022) trickled down to us from the skies like snow, each snowflake hitting us with a pulse of pop beats and indie antics; one more refreshing than the last. Pure grooves from starting self-titled track 'Daisy Chain' flow with euphoria all the way to 'Papier-Mache'’s softly layered ensemble.

Moving forward a couple years through few tours and some festival shows (including headliners), Slowly Slowly has been on the quieter side of things. With vocalist Ben Stewart focusing on his solo efforts, producing 12 track sophomore album Pushing Daylight boasting squeaky clean tones, and light atmospheric elements; showing us not all side projects are going to be just “that emo guy on the acoustic”. Now the time has come to realign his sights back to the four piece project, and upgrade with some new material, laying out a fine set of distinguishing tools each made up different elements that help compose their wondrous catalogue, wanna help? Then Gimme The Wrench!

It’s like Race Car Blues got a fresh coat of paint! 'Gimme The Wrench' stars pumped-up reverbed leads, funky guitar rhythms and a subtle 80’s background synth; succeeding on its goal to inspire you to get out of your comfort zone, work harder, and do something rewarding. A true ‘get off your ass’ anthem!

Talking in-depth on the latest single, singer Ben says:

I knew that for the foreseeable future I would be spinning plates across multiple projects, family, touring and I wanted a song that would pump me up for it. There’s obviously a lot of reward in stretching out of your depth, and the metaphor of choosing the difficult path, when there are obvious ones of least resistance, seemed to resonate with me.

Such a strong meaning embedded personally helps shine through the track in multiple ways. From the brightness of the cymbals, to the blankets of effervescently pieced together vocals, Gimme The Wrench definitely hits the mark and will forever be a tune of overflowing good vibes and motivation. What a bop.

Jumping back into the latest music rotation, we can be expecting a couple more new singles within the year or so, and I’m sure some hometown Australian gigs to show-off the current hit. The UK & Europe already have their dreams fulfilled for when they set on the road with Stand Atlantic and Honey Revenge in September.

Bring on the next wave of Slowly Slowly, we’re here for it.
