It's been a hot rumour for a while that the almighty Slash is preparing for a blues album, and the time has finally come. The inimitable Guns N' Roses guitarist is fresh off his Aussie and Japanese tour, playing tracks off album 4 with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.Slash has been alternating between Gunners and solo duties over previous years, both from a recording and a tour perspective - with no sign of slowing down, and a very transparent passion for the music - something he reinforced at an Aussie Q&A press conference for 4.. However, it's obviously been on his bucket-list to deviate from his go-to hard rock n' roll recipe (that he could do with his eyes closed) and dabble in a left-of-centre genre that's likely inspired him from a young age - and that's blues.Update: Slash has announced new upcoming record Orgy of the Damned, full of blues covered, the first being 'Killing Floor' with the original by Howlin' Wolf'. The record is out on May 17 via Gibson Records. With massive features including Iggy Pop, you'll want to stay across this album. The 58-year old hits 'Start' with a bang on 'Killing Floor'. Slash has recruited no other than AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson, making it a pretty important single. Johnson of course, is warming up those vocal cords ahead of the Aussies' first tour to Europe in quite a few years.'Killing Floor' sees a softer start than usual to a Slash track whereby you hear his signature riffs at a difference pace. Johnson sneaks right in with his very own bluesy vocal style, also very different to what we're used to compared to a 'Highway to Hell' performance. With all the double-bass and brass, and even a special feature from Aerosmith's Steven Tyler on harmonica, Slash has taken the sound really seriously, to the point where he might've even recruited a whole new different backing band. Of course, where would the track be without a tidy solo to carry us home.Words by Ricky Aarons (@rickysaul90)
