Hitting 2024 off with not just a bang, but a banger. Patient Sixty-Seven came charging through the new year's gates armed and ready with their latest catalogue available for one and all to hear! Just like the running theme of features they undertook last year, ranging from Late 9, Tired Violence, VRSTY, and many more. We yet again are presented with another example of music bringing artists across the globe, to join forces to create a fusion of dopamine-releasing tunes.Last time we had a chat with our old mate Tom Kiely, we left him with some interesting questions on the band's future horizons and a possible Christmas tune for 2023, and oh boy did they deliver with the goods. Ending the year off with the most weirdly wholesome, yet atmospherically stabby ‘Little Drummer Boy’ cover was a nice touch for the Perth band's closing of a good 2023. Not too long just before came raw hitter ‘Mare’s Nest’ which remarks on the innate grapple within our minds to keep it all together, when giving up would be easier.Plummeting through our atmosphere at burning speeds ‘No Place’ plunges head first in with rapid, heavy snare hits and a punchy guitar tone setting the base layer for P67’s most aggressive song yet. With Tom putting his all into this vocal performance we’re tossed left to right by bellowing mids & lows, and a couple sharp “EUGH!’s” for extra damage. The chorus slows the pace of the song down to capture the poppy essence P67 has largely instilled in their musical signature, which causes no issues when transitioning back into the hostile takeover of the verse.Metalcore & Rock legend Aaron Gillespie (The Almost&Underoath) always knows how to make an angelic appearance, especially when backed with a clean, reverb, picking-oriented guitar. His flawless vocal versatility compliments the song well, going from smooth lighter tones to largely evolving harmonies and gritty strains to help bring out the inner afflicting feeling within the song. To wrap the brutality back around one more time, a long lasting breakdown heavily guarded with raging vocals blisters its way through to a concluding chorus.Whether feature in hand or not you can always count on our Western warriors to come out on top and bring the love to the local scene that it deserves. Don’t stray away too far from their live shows as they’re currently hitting the stages with Alt. but will be taking a tumble in their hometown Perth with Atreyu next.Keep the ball rolling gents, you’re onto something here.Written by EdAtlas (@YourFavouriteMerchGuy)
