Ocean Grove Continues to Set Fire To The Scene with Latest Single, ‘MY DISASTER’
Following up from the hard hitter that was ‘FLY AWAY’, scene favs Ocean Grove have today doubled down on their new electrifying sound, seeing a marriage of nostalgic nu-metal and invigorating electronica come together to create something truly unique. Championing the ethos of the Oddworld, Ocean Grove are defined by their very lack of definition- something that sees their catalogue span through eclecticness and unpredictability. ‘MY DISASTER’ is a feisty journey through the human mind, and displays a greater chunk of the band's brain that shows no lack of creativity.
Without a second to waste, the track jumps into the swing of things with an alerting drum and an imposing riff. Sneaking through the structures, a slightly growly Tanner lurks. It is not before long, these elements all culminate to an explosion of sound, with heavy layering creating a dense musical soundscape- blending screams and riffage into one loud entity.
As the pre-chorus descends upon the track, the pressure is alleviated- slowing down the pace and revealing some of the more nuanced areas of the track. There are subtleties to be heard everywhere, from 2000s laced echos to reverberating chords, each small element has a radiance of comfort through its slight homages to what defined the sounds of our youth.
The song continues to fluctuate around these soundscapes, perfectly capturing the essence of the themes- the human mind and its many tribulations and triumphs. The song effortlessly captures the same swings and tonal shifts that our mind is no stranger to. With the addition of spiraling sounds and kooky flairs, nothing is ever as it seems!
‘MY DISASTER’ is another step forward in Ocean Grove’s domination of 2024.
