Nile's Triumphant Rebirth: Unearthing Latest Single and 10th Album, The Underworld Awaits Us All
Nile are well-versed in the art of crafting elaborate and labyrinthine song titles - take for instance, ‘Chapter of Obeisance Before Giving Breath to the Inert One in the Presence of the Crescent Shaped Horns’ off the seminal, Annihilation of the Wicked. Or ‘Papyrus Containing the Spell to Preserve Its Possessor Against Attacks from He Who Is in the Water’ from 2007’s Ithyphallic - but even by their lofty standards, this latest single deserves a tier of its own.
Having survived the perilous descent into the depths of Tartarus, Nile have emerged wielding 'Chapter for Not Being Hung Upside Down on a Stake in the Underworld and Made to Eat Feces by the Four Apes'— a tantalising look through the ‘Eye of Horus’ into their forthcoming album, The Underworld Awaits Us All. After a five-year break between new material, the band's latest release is teeming with opulent treasures that are primed and ready for archeological excavation.
Speaking of the record, Nile guitarist / mastermind Karl Sanders had the following to say:
“We are very happy to be sharing with fans Nile’s 10th album. We worked overtime making this record as killer as we could - because we sincerely felt fans deserved our best efforts. The Underworld Awaits Us All - and we will see you there."
From the onset, 'Chapter...' rouses a vortex of pure, unadulterated chaos. The suffocating guitars swarm like a plague of scarab beetles, whilst the thunderous drumming threatens to tear the earth asunder, drawing everything around it into the abyss; roaring vocals mimic those of a malevolent, primordial entity, beckoning us from deep within that very same void.

The Underworld Awaits Us All is scheduled for release on 23rd August 2024 via Napalm Records. It was recorded at Sanders’ own Serpent Headed Studios in Greenville, South Carolina, and it sees Nile returning to work with engineer Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Whitechapel) for mixing and mastering.
