Our Aussie scene is full of talent and at Wall of Sound, we are always stoked when we can share fresh, homegrown artists. Lakeview are a melodic hardcore band from a small country town near the Victoria/NSW border and we're pleased to introduce our readers to them.Gearing up to play the third edition of Melbourne’s Perish Fest, the band have dropped their brand new single ‘Silhouette’ and to keep the hype moving, we caught up with frontman Liam to ask how Lakeview came to be...

"Lakeview began as catharsis in a deep depression; when I found it hard to describe to anyone how I felt, the music let me word it in a way that felt genuine and honest. I never actually thought we'd play shows, until the guys in the band Alera heard us on Triple J and offered us a show. There wasn't even really a band then, Dylan, Harry and myself would jam a few old demos and covers from time to time. But when the show offer came, we called up Braith and started Lakeview "properly"."

For tickets to Perish Fest, head here[/caption]Putting out an EP, Life Has Become Bereft of Colour in 2022, the band has stayed true to their emotionally heavy subject matter with their new single. The first glimpse we have of their upcoming 7-track EP, Liam tells us what is behind the deeply moving ‘Silhouette’.

Deeply personal. At a young age I watched my mother endure a heartbreaking and traumatic tragedy; it broke us both. 'Silhouette' portrays the difficulty and pain of watching the one you've always known to guide you, become so lost and distraught.”

Leaning more into the heavier side, ‘Silhouette' is hauntingly beautiful, raw and vulnerable, while still polished sonically, Lakeview shows they are light years ahead in their music. You can catch the band in Melbourne at this weekend's Perish Fest, which is sure to be one of many future opportunities for this young, up and coming band. The band let us know just how hyped they are to be part of the show.

"Oh man, we're so grateful to be a part of such a stacked lineup. It feels like a huge stepping stone for us as a band. So fucking stoked; massive, MASSIVE shoutout to Josh Hockey (Lost Souls Bookings). He's done some great things for local heavy music, I feel like everyone should help show the support he deserves."
