Kerry King Targets Liars in the Supreme Court with Thumping New Track 'Residue'

Ex-Slayer guitarist Kerry King continues to build hype for his first solo LP, From Hell I Rise, with new single 'Residue'.

Considering Slayer have announced a couple of festival appearances for later in the year, you might be right in wondering what was happening with King's solo work. Make no mistake, King is forging ahead with his band of thrash masters Mark Osegueda (Death Angel), Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head, ex-Vio-lence), Paul Bostaph (Slayer) and Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah). 'Residue' is a great preview of what to expect from the album, which drops May 17.

It kicks off with drummer Bostaph hitting his toms before King, Demmel and Sanders join in. It's not as fast as previous single 'Idle Hands', though Bostaph's feet are pretty busy on his double kick. Osegueda demonstrates why he was a sublime choice, his raspy voice suited to spitting King's dark lyrics that speak of betrayal and chaos. There's a gnarly breakdown too.

In his interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, King revealed that 'Residue' was in part inspired by the US Supreme Court judges appointed by Donald Trump during his presidency. Based on the lyrics, King isn't a fan of judges lying to get their position.
