If you have been lucky enough to witness the rise of Hyro the Hero, then you will understand just how close to the brink of greatness this man is. An exciting artist who has taken on the incredible mission of creating music that effortlessly blends the worlds of rap and hip-hop with heavier styles like metal, hardcore and punk- he has kept us guessing from the start.

For those who haven't yet checked out his music, we caught up with Hyro The Hero to chat about his new album Bound For Glory, his current mindset and what he has been up to since we last saw him on our shores in 2013.

Welcome to Wall of Sound! You’ve been incredibly busy touring and of course, with the new album dropping- how is life feeling right now?

I feel amazing right now. I just got off tour with Nothing More and it was incredible. It’s been almost three years since I’ve toured and hitting the stage and killing it was the best feeling ever. It has been fun performing music off my new album ‘Bound For Glory.’

Now, you came to Australia in 2012 on the Soundwave tour and again in 2013 with Deftones, can you give us a little bit of a rundown of what you have been up to since then?

Working hard and learning how to make great music. Since then, I learned how to structure songs and blend rap and rock in an incredible way; it really shows on this new album. The ups and downs I have faced as an artist on the rise motivates me to just keep grinding and keep working hard.

Your latest album Bound for Glory is bringing in a new audience, what do you think it is about this album that is drawing new listeners in?

The sound is epic. Thanks to Matt Good and his epic production skills: he and I clicked like magic. We created something fresh and new that I know people will love.

One of the first tracks that got my attention was ‘Bullet’ back in 2018, and ‘Renegade of Punk’ has a similar feel but there is an evolution in your sound on Bound For Glory. What was the mindset when putting together ‘Bound for Glory’?

The mindset was full of excitement to make and put out an album and also connect with people using my experience through my lyrics and sound. I have been through a lot just like many other people; I want them to feel the emotion and rock out.

There are a lot of different features on this album. What was it like working with the likes of David Draiman, Chad Gray and so many other great musicians?

Words can’t explain the feeling of working with such legendary artists. I’ve been in the game a long time, so it’s really cool to see all the respect I have built up over the years. Everyone was so excited to work with me. Definitely feels amazing having them bless my tracks.

While a fusion of rap and metal is not an entirely new concept, do you find there can be a bit of pushback or struggle with getting your music out there and has it changed since your first few releases?

I don’t really worry about pushback. I’m just happy to make music and have people listen. It’s hard to get attention in this day and age and I have ears listening which is cool.

It has been a while since we have seen you on our shores, are there any plans to head out to Australia anytime soon?

Ohh yea man hoping to come out in 2024. I’m working on it.

Lastly, for those who may not have stumbled across your music before, is there anything you would like new listeners to know about you?

I am pure energy. I try to make the record just as good as I am live. Experience the record then definitely come see me live.
