While it only feels like yesterday that Gatecreeper dropped the new song 'Caught In The Treads', the Arizona posse have delivered a death-metal double-whammy with all the details of their third LP, plus another fresh track to sweeten the deal.Dark Superstition,Gatecreeper's third full-length and first release since 2021's surprise EP An Unexpected Reality, drops May 17th on Nuclear Blast Records. Working with uber-producer Kurt Ballou once again, the 10-track album is bound to pack all the band's signature old-school death metal worship, coupled with musical growth and a focus on songwriting.

As for the brand new track 'The Black Curtain', this fresh single sees Gatecreeper expand out their sound like never before. Dialing the pace and aggression back, the new cut is instead full of darkly melodic and mournful passages, highlighting the band's love of Nordic extreme metal. While the aforementioned 'Caught In The Treads' is a tailor-built mosh-destroyer, 'The Black Curtain' shows Gatecreeper at their most reflective. With Gatecreeperhitting Australian shores in less than a month, the new song and album deets could not come at a better time for Aussie DM fans, with 'The Black Curtain' and 'Caught In The Treads' giving a preview of potentially 2024's best extreme metal release with Dark Superstition.Words by Andrew Kapper
