Death Metal Icons The Black Dahlia Murder Reappear with Comeback Single 'Aftermath' + New Album, Servitude

Two years since the heartbreaking passing of frontman and founding member Trevor Strnad, North American death metal titans The Black Dahlia Murder have unveiled the next chapter in their storied career. On September 27th on longtime label home Metal Blade Records, Servitude is the group's 10th full-length, and to sweeten this excellent news, the first single 'Aftermath' has also arrived.Marking the group's first album with fellow founding member Brian Eschbach stepping into the vocalist role, Servitude's first taster 'Aftermath' is a raging three-minute cut. The old-school slammer sees the group put their foot to the floor, with neck-warping pace driving the front half of the track, whilst the middle sees things move into epic territory with marching snares and wild soloing.A special note must be made for Eschbach's performance; stepping into the lead singer role after the passing of his friend and bandmate would not have been easy - but possessing a similar vocal range, and sharing the same dedication and vision of the late Strnad, this new song 100% solidifies his new position within the group.With the scorching 'Aftermath' as its first taster, it's safe to say that The Black Dahlia Murder's Servitude is undoubtedly one of the most hotly anticipated metal releases of 2024 - and potentially the death metal album of the year.Words by Andrew Kapper
