Casey Get Moody and Emotional With Latest Single 'Selah'
Since their breakup in 2018, post-hardcore Welsh act Casey have made a triumphant return to the forefront of the emo scene after announcing their reformation in December 2022.The quintet have had a killer 2023 with a return to live stages on headliners and festivals worldwide, and announcements for some Aussie dates supporting Dayseeker in July 2024. In addition to a couple of new songs, a third album titled How To Disappear was announced that drops as soon as January 12th 2024! We've been able to sample this album in the form of singles 'Puncture Wounds to Heaven', title track 'How To Disappear', and 'Bite Through My Tongue'. Given the history behind the band, how much I'm enjoying their current work, and my relative inexperience with Casey, I was keen to check out their newest single 'Selah'.
The song begins with a quieter intro without percussion, allowing me to fully grasp the vibes of the moody guitars and sombre vocals. As the song progresses I can't help but feel introspective, 'Selah' almost feels like it yearns to relate to or make the listener emotional. The drums are brought in and everything else subtlety encaptures the listener. The third act of this song and this journey crescendos the feels as the band asks "How can I know peace?" without seemingly finding an answer.This final note of not always finding the answer resonated with me, and I immediately understood why Casey are so highly regarded.

The successful comeback story of a band named Casey could be quite the envy of broken-up bands or artists on hiatus.
