Bring Me The Horizon Want Us To Taste Their Spicy 'Kool-Aid'

It's been a bit rough in Bring Me The Horizon camp over the festive season.

Firstly, they announced their Post Human: Nex Gen album was postponed to UK Summer, (it's now pushed back again to December according to their webstore), which is fine, you can't rush perfection and the guys have been delivering fans new songs as they're finished in the form of 2023 releases 'LosT', DArkSide', and the collab-infused heavy hitter 'AmEN!' just prior to their EPIC Download Festival UK headline performance.

The biggest gut punch then came on December 22nd when it was announced Jordan Fish (programmer/keys/backing vocals) had left the group after 11 years to pursue other dreams in the music industry, focusing on songwriting and production. A HUGE blow to the band whose signature sound came about from Jordan's addition to the lineup and finishing touches on albums Sempiternal, That's The Spirit and the first Post Human...

Now BMTH are back with 'Kool-Aid', their first release since Fish's departure and first of the year and it's a heavy assault on the senses. Commencing with an ominous feel with some tasty drum fills from Mat Nicholls before opening up following a clap and Oli Sykes' iconic vocals take over (touched up with some digital enhancing) and we're on our merry way. There seems to be a real focus on the instruments with this one, with the guitars and drums moving into the spotlight rather than hidden behind synth like previous releases.

The build up to the breakdown is beautiful and exactly where we expect BMTH to be in 2024 with plenty of screams, a wicked Lee Malia guitar solo and backing synth-a-plenty. Oli's growls take us to completion before we're met with an outro throwback from the recording process with Oli sampling lyrics for the track.

It's an instant classic for Bring Me The Horizon and another example of how far advanced this band are at the moment. Leading the entire metal scene through twists and turns, while still maintaining a heavy edge wen they need to flop it out again. With elements of tracks like 'Antivist' 'OBEY', and 'Ludens', (I also heard Marilyn Manson influence too) fans new and old will lap this up like.... Kool-aid!
