UPDATE: Green Day have finally confirmed the cancellation.

Live Nation have also confirmed the show will not be rescheduled in a statement of their own:

We understand the immense disappointment surrounding the cancellation of tomorrow’s Green Day show on the Gold Coast due to Cyclone Alfred. This decision was made in close consultation with local authorities and with Green Day, prioritising the safety of all involved.

Due to Green Day's international touring schedule it will not be possible to reschedule the Gold Coast show to a later date. All ticket holders will receive a full refund from Ticketmaster. Our thoughts are with all impacted by Cyclone Alfred.

No action is required. Your refund will be processed to the original method of payment used at time of purchase. It should appear on your account within 14-21 days. If the tickets were transferred to you, the refund will go to the fan who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster.

Well it's official, insiders have told us Green Day's scheduled show at CBus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast has officially been canned due to the impending Cyclone Alfred threat.

The March 5th show with AFI supporting is one of many which will without a doubt be axed over the incoming hours/days as the tropical cyclone is set to reach landfall in South East QLD on late Thursday / early Friday. The cyclone is set to affect residents between the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast.

Green Day's next show is at Lollapalooza in India on March 9th - so we anticipate there not being enough time to reschedule the concert before then. No word yet from both venue or promoter, Live Nation.

Other scheduled events, including Alexisonfire and Underoath at Riverstage in Brisbane and Stone Temple Pilots' Gold Coast gig at HOTA - both on Saturday March 8th - are in doubt, as is AFI's sideshow at the Fortitude Music Hall on Thursday March 6th.

More details to come...
