We first came across Melbourne/Naarm band Atriox in the lead up to the release of their debut EP Dream Forever. The band displayed a tenacity for producing quality metalcore and quickly established themselves as ones to watch in the upcoming scene.
Now the band are keeping the momentum flowing with the announcement of a new single 6 months following their EP's release.
Bassist/Vocalist Jacob Churchward shared an update on the reception to their first release, revealing they've made some new fans internationally.
"To say we were blown away would be an understatement. The reach it had was something that none of us could have expected. We received so many kind messages from people all over the globe. I remember one morning waking up to see someone from France was messaging me about it. Having gone into it thinking that a couple hundred streams would be amazing, it's completely surreal to have seen that thousands of people from all around the world have listened to our music. We're all incredibly grateful for anyone that has taken the time to listen to us. It truly means the world."

Now, they're focusing on the next song drop, 'To Be Gone'. Commencing with some spectacular guitars before Daniel Carlson's bellowing screams draw us in. Damien Hall's drum work is exceptional throughout and for the clean chrous, Jacob shines. If chuggy riffs are your forte, you're gonna be bobbing along like there's no tomorrow.
On the new song, Jacob explains:
"To Be Gone is about staring down the barrel of life-altering changes being thrust upon you, exploring the emotions that lay on the other side, and learning to live with the consequences. It was also the first Atriox song that I wrote any lyrics for."
While the instrumentals are repetitive at times, the band seem to be finding their sweet spot and with more releases under their belt, they'll surely hone in on a sound that makes them stand out. Until then, hook into new Atriox and rediscover their Dream Forever EP.
