After two years of silence, Cairns/Brisbane deathcore destroyers A Night In Texas are back in a massive way with a face-melting fresh single and a host of info on their upcoming new release, Digital Apocalypse.Dropping August 2nd via Unique Leader Records, Digital Apocalypse is the group's fourth full-length, following the double album The Divine Dichocomy. The band comments on the theme of the new LP - which serves as a stylistic change from their more satanic/anti-religious earlier work;

“In essence, Digital Apocalypse paints the picture of a grim and pragmatic society that has pigeon holed itself into a redundant and counter productive existence. This record explores themes related to the complacent struggle between efficiency and self sabotage, the enslavement of mankind by artificial intelligence and the potential malevolence is lurking in our not too distant future.“

Their first music since 2022's standalone tune 'God's Throne', 'Apex of Agony' is the perfect preview to this new era of A Night In Texas. Fast and furious, the raging track is a little more tech and less blackened than before, with fleet-fingered riffs and endless double kicks, whilst also boasting layers of melodic guitars over subtle orchestral moments.

Fans of the band will be aware that there is still the small detail of who is currently occupying the vocalist position for A Night In Texas. With former frontman Ethan Lucas amicably stepping down from his role at the start of last year, the group has remained tight-lipped over who is ripping out the mid-focused roars and occasional possessed shriek on the upcoming record.UPDATE: Since publishing the band shared SamCameron will be their new vocalisthttps://www.instagram.com/p/C7IQn0Zyqe4/?hl=enWith full pre-orders for Digital Apocalypse going live on June 6th, we're certain that A Night In Texas will unveil their score praise with their newest member - but for now, deathcore and extreme metal fans have plenty to sink their teeth into with the vein-popping 'Apex of Agony'.Words by Andrew Kapper
