Watch Drastic Park's Deadly Demise in 'Deadline' Music Video

Remember the "See Paris Die" marketing campaign surrounding the House Of Wax remake Paris Hilton starred in back in 2005? Well, I'm going to borrow that promotional tactic to discuss the brand new Drastic Park music video for 'Deadline' - which features an all-out bloodied assault on Australia's funniest pop punk trio with a gory climax on par with the brand new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie.

Firstly the song finds the band honing in on their roots with added yells for dramatic effect (much like Four Year Strong/A Day To Remember) and the end result is a catchy anthem that's going to induce sing-a-longs galore at their upcoming support slot with Real Friends in Melbourne next week on April 27th. There's your usual "woah-ohhs" section and a whiney chorus that just oozes pop punk goodness throughout with vocalists John Stokes and Chris Tannahill bouncing off each other like two kids in a bouncing castle... that is until you get to the third act of the song where the gates of hell open up and all hell breaks loose.

Now gang, the best way to experience this song is by watching their hilariously bloodied music video which has the band starting out as a Wiggles-esque act appearing on tv for a couple of younglings... But once that dramatic third act section starts - it's grotesque mayhem for our trio of misfits as they endure the wrath of a Bunny pushed to the edge... I was a fan before this song and video, but now I'm officially calling myself a simp!

On 'Deadline', vocalist/guitarist John Stokes hinted exclusively to Wall of Sound that this new "heavier" sound from the band marks the start of a new era for Drastic Park as we know it:

"The best way to describe what this song means to us is… well… skip to 2:15 in the music video. This is intended to symbolise the death of Drastic Park as we know it. Then, at 2:55 we are ‘reborn’ as something different - the kind of band that screams in pop punk songs, plays guitar solos and plays heavier sounding riffs. We’re evolving as a band and want to keep pushing not just the boundaries of genre, but our own boundaries as musicians."

Sign us the hell up - it's been great watching this band evolve from blink-182 inspired fanboys to carving their own name in the scene with their music and videos. Honourable mention has to go to the continuity of drummer Joe Larwood's progressively rotting corpse getting worse every time the camera flicks to him towards the end of the track.

Bravo boys, this is without a doubt Music Video of the Year material.
