Hayley Williams Debuts Solo Project With First Single 'Simmer'

She teased it on her birthday at the end of last year and now we finally get to see Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams' new solo side project with the release of her first musical offering in the form of the song 'Simmer'.
The track is a more synth-filled offering with Hayley's vocal performance standing out as the most important part of the track. You can definitely tell this is a solo song and not associated with Paramore as it's completely different to anything she's done in the past.
Fans will notice in the credits that Paramore guitarist Taylor York helped to write and produce to track so it's safe to say Paramore will still be connected by music regardless if it's for Hayley's solo work OR for the band, but maybe, we'll see the two musical identities split with Hayley's work being a bit more experimental and Paramore returning to their pop punk roots after their sound shifting change on their last release After Laughter!?
On the new release and fothcoming album, Williams says:
I’m so ready and so incredibly humbled to get to share this project. Making it was a scary, empowering experience. Some of my proudest moments as a lyricist happened while writing PETALS FOR ARMOR. And I was able to get my hands a little dirtier than usual when it came to instrumentation. I’m in a band with my favorite musicians so I never really feel the need to step into a role as a player when it comes to Paramore records. This project, however, benefited from a little bit of musical naïveté and rawness and so I experimented quite a bit more. I made this with some of the closest people to me. Their respective talents really shine bright throughout the record. I like to think we all make each other better and the result is something that sounds and FEELS exactly as I’d hoped it would. Now that it’s time to put it all out there, I can finally exhale. I’m excited to let people in to experience a different side of myself that I’ve only very recently become familiar with.
Her new solo album Petals for Armor will arrive on May 8th via Atlantic Records.
