The annual Stormrider Heavy Metal Festival is about to be unleashed on us again! Returning for the 6th year in a row, this year is no exception in bringing Australia’s best heavy metal bands to the west coast for a night of unforgettable head banging action.

Headlined this year by the mighty LORD from Sydney, we see the 'Gong boys back for their second appearance. The guys are poised to drop their new album on August 1st following the release of the new single earlier this year; 'United (Welcome Back)'.

It wouldn't be Stormrider without Perth’s favourite Power Metal sons Silent Knight bringing their high paced and energetic stage show. Joining in on the fun and cranking the heavy up to 10 are Death/Thrash outfit Truth Corroded from Adelaide touring in support of their latest album Bloodlands. Melbourne’s Orpheus Omega score a slot with their new album titled Wear Your Sins. It's so good to FINALLY see Divine Ascension after a long time waiting. This world class prog metal band has toured Europe with the likes of Stratovarius and Gloryhammer and domestically with Blind Guardian. Opening the event will be new Perth outfit Diamond Sky who channel the golden era of Rock n Roll to create triumphant & powerful heavy metal anthems!

So I sat down with Stu McGill, the man who put this all together to find out what's in-store for metal fans this year. As well as getting some good advice for bands wanting to get on not just this bill, but jumping on bigger gigs in general.
