It's not everyday you get to sit down with a member of one of the biggest metal bands in the world that have been on the scene for well over 30 years but when you do, you show respect and try our hardest not to geek out.... Unfortunately that didn't happen with Scott Ian from Anthrax.
Scott has hung up the guitar (briefly) for a new kind of tour involving storytelling and lots of swearing. What started out as once off, Pre-Motörhead show called "Rock Stars Say The Funniest Things" where members of different bands were invited to take to the stage and share stories of past experiences to an audience of fans, has evolved into multiple stops across America and the World including Glasgow (where Scott's new DVD takes place). Contrary to what you would believe, this isn't a show breaking the band code of "What Happens On Tour, Stays On Tour".
For a man who has lived a long life, he has seen his fair share of shit and isn't shy or afraid to go all Sci-Fi and Nerdy when the time calls for it, including sharing his thoughts on the how he sees the future and the impending uprising of the machines/computers in our world, where humanity has relied on Google to answer all our questions.
Talking about Nerdy, we also let out inner-geek out and discussed Scott's other love for Comics & Superhero movies, in which he reveals his honest thoughts of how Marvel's The Avengers has played out on the big screen. A comment which is sure to make Marvel Fanboys throw their hands in the air in disapproval, once they stop Googling images of Jean Grey naked.
The Walking Dead fans may like to know Scott will have a cameo in an upcoming episode of Season 5 and shares with us his secret to getting in character to play the perfect Zombie (yes there is such a thing). And for those wondering about the fate of Scott's other side project The Damned Things (featuring members of Every Time I Die, Fall Out Boy, Anthrax and Volbeat) the future isn't looking too promising.
Take a listen to a man who is so down to earth, you'd consider inviting him to your next Costume Party, or to join forces with your clan if there is ever a Zombie Apocalypse.
Until next time, rock the fuck out!
