Half Me - 'German Metalcore Prodigies Down Under'

German metalcore prodigies Half Me recently won over crowds supporting thrown on their first ever Australian tour (Perth gallery here). There's a lot of pressure when living up to fresh standards from their domestic peers Electric Callboy, but they gave it their all and accomplished their mission.

With stunning live production, the Arising Empire five-piece kissed various cities and towns across our continent, playing tracks off their debut record Soma from 2023 as well as more recent EPs Fatalist and Opium.

At the Melbourne show, we grabbed Chris Zühlke on vocals and Chris Hesse on guitar to have a little rock n' roll moment. We spoke with the boys in a dark alley behind the venue to chat about the tour so far, their musical heroes/influences and what's in the works for the band.

In the interview, the Euro band shared how much of a ball they're having in Australia and don't want the tour to end, revealing Aussie crowds and shows were: "Pretty hectic, nothing like we're used to. It's warm, people are hot, the shows are hot."

They also alluded to new music on the horizon, along with some guestie info that you'll want to get on the pulse with.

"We're doing another EP right now, am I allowed to say that? We're playing a new song tonight, we're releasing it fairly soon."  

When quizzed further about the upcoming release, the Chris duo alluded to it being a: "One-piece album split into two EPs." which serves as a continuation from previous releases that's "more simple, but more hard [and smacks you] in the face."

Given the success of their maiden Aussie voyage, it's safe to say they'll leave us all salivating at the thought of new material as they board their flights back home.

Fans of Australian export act Sugar Spine should keep eyes and ears locked on the Netherlands-based band's upcoming releases, as the Half Me lads sneakily dropped a clue about a collaboration that's brewing between the two. More on that later...
