During their recent tour of Australia, Ricky Aarons sat down with Deafheaven frontman George Clarke outside of their Melbourne show for an up close and intimate chat about the success the band has had in the past year including what it was like for a death metal band to attend the Grammys (with his dear old mother) and how the heavy bands (much like at high school) all congregated with each other and didn't stray away from the heavy genres too much.
Deafheaven have also played a few special shows since coming to Australia including Perth Festival and Vivid Sydney at the Opera House. Two left field shows which bands of their calibre wouldn't venture to, but the praise they received from fans who attended made it worth their while.
George also spoke about the band's brand new single 'Black Brick' which made it's World Debut at the show that night (before getting released later in the evening) for international fans. Revisit our review of Deafheaven's Melbourne show right here
All in all, it was a great chat and fans of the band will appreciate just how down-to-earth this musical legend is... Please forgive the punishing Richmond Train Station cameo in the background
