It’s been an epic week for international acts touring our country.
Not only do we have UK rockers You Me At Six heading around on their final lap of Australia before disbanding; but the stellar “all killer, no filler” lineup over on Bad Omens‘ East Coast tour is not only making news around the world, but sending the scene into a frenzy for countless reasons even we can’t keep up with.
If you haven’t already done so, check out our Gig Review of the Brisbane leg of the tour – because there’s a bit of info you should probably know if you’re heading to the final dates in Sydney on Jan 28th and 29th – namely involving one of Poppy’s newest live members.
Firstly, the last time Poppy made her way through Australia, the band was a three piece with drummer and guitarist alongside Pops up front. This time around, there’s the inclusion of two more members; including a brand new keyboardist/programmer and backup vocalist. Turns out the mystery masked man is none other than former Bring Me The Horizon maestro, Jordan Fish, who seemingly outed himself via social media overnight when he reposted a photo from Poppy‘s Instagram account.

Eagle-eyed viewers who caught the tour would have also picked up on Fish rocking the fuck out (and backup screaming) with similar moves witnessed during his time with BMTH. Jordan was last in Australia with the band for their Good Things Festival headline slot in 2022.
While it hasn’t been mentioned publicly that Jordan had joined the band for their live performances, audiophiles would have picked up on the vast sound quality improvement at the Bad Omens show at Brisbane’s Riverstage – in which the entire concert sounded world class – after being notoriously infamous for lacking the same quality at previously attended gigs. Early in the night, Jordan was spotted around the sound desk during House of Protection‘s set, presumably making sure everything was up to standard since he had been working closely with the duo, producing their debut EP GALORE.
Mr. Fish’s inclusion comes as no surprise as he was heavily involved with the production of Poppy‘s latest album Negative Spaces, as well as notably working alongside the likes of Bad Omens, and ARCHITECTS – who he hooked up with House Of Protection for a collab on their forthcoming 11th studio album – more on that here.
On December 22, 2023, it was announced via social media that BMTH had decided to part ways with Jordan Fish; and since then, he’s wasted no time continuing his legacy within the heavy music scene by offering his impeccable skills to helping other acts level up with their music. Personally, it’s great to see the man back on stage again and hopefully this is the start of something special for Poppy as her live shows continue to exceed all expectations.
Keep your eyes glued to stage left, Sydney!
