Nearly two-and-a-half years have passed since the charismatic queen of dreamy darkness and dazzling dreariness Chelsea Wolfe enchanted the thousands of her devotees in Australia. Although this timeframe does not present the appearance of a “long duration” per se, for many of her admirers, this feels like an eternity. Thankfully, Chelsea Joy Wolfe has announced her return to our end of the Southern Hemisphere featuring her majestic four-piece band, as well as Melbourne’s experimental dark ambient industrialist Uboa (Xandra Metcalfe) for shows in Perth (Uboa not appearing), Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and then across the South Pacific Ocean to Wellington and Auckland in May 2025.
Since Ms. Wolfe’s last entrancing adventure, the spellbinding songstress has unleashed her seventh studio album She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She in February this year to worldwide adoration. A jaw-dropping journey into the remarkable realms of trip-hop, darkwave, industrial, gothic rock, electropop and electronica; it is certainly an exciting escapade, yet this artistic exploration is still undeniably Chelsea Wolfe and it is brilliantly bewitching.
Also celebrating 15 years since the release of her dazzling debut ‘The Grime And The Glow’, fans will hope and expect to hear charming compositions from each of Wolfe’s full-lengths in the varied artistic musical classifications she has vivaciously ventured. This includes folk, doom metal, drone metal, post punk, witch trance and even elements of psychedelic rock – it is assuredly a diversely delightful demonstration she presents at every performance.
There was a time that Chelsea Wolfe did not tour our nation for about a decade. Do not let this opportunity of falling in ‘Crazy Love’ with this magical musician become an ‘Unseen World’.
