Ukrainian progressive metalcore icons Jinjer continue their role as ambassadors for peace with their second new single ‘Rogue’. With war ravaging their homeland, the band have toured and recorded overseas, with the follow up to 2021’s stellar LP, Wallflowers (our review here), seemingly close to release.
Following from the more melodic ‘Someone’s Daughter’, new hit ‘Rogue’ erupts with staccato riffing and Tatiana Shmayluk roaring. Fans of the band’s djent heavy side will dig the tune, which features lyrics that denounce a forced occupation and invasion: “And his order has become their thought”, “Collecting blood is his ambition” and the riveting conclusion, “We are forcefully put on his map, War-drum always rattles.”
Certainly this sentiment will resonate with plenty of metalheads around the globe.
On the new song, the band shares,
“Our new single ‘Rogue’ is a reaction to many things … it’s brutally honest, it’s in-your-face and one of the most intense tracks JINJER has ever released. We are so excited about this new track, about the new album and everything that‘s on the way ….”

Initial single ‘Someone’s Daughter’ starts with a slow, clean sung verse before kicking into a heavier gear. Shmayluk sings clean for most of the song, which depicts a young woman forced into battle. It conveys the suffering of war and its ability to transform regular people into fighters. It was released August 2, 2024 as the first new music since the release of Wallflowers. The video features Shmayluk dressed as various empowered women, from Cleopatra to Marie Curie and Joan of Arc. She makes the art of painting look badass too, check it out below.
Both singles are out now via Napalm Records. The album is being teased for a Winter 2025 release which should be around the January to March timeframe.
