Make Them Suffer Unleash New Single 'Oscillator' Ahead of Anticipated Self-Titled Album Release
It's been a whirlwind of a year for Perth deathcore-turned-metalcore act Make Them Suffer, who earlier this year supported one of alternative music's most popular acts, Bring Me The Horizon before continuing to fly the flag for Australian music throughout the UK/European festival circuit. As the quintet prepares for their upcoming headline Australian tour, they have blessed us with a bone-crushingly heavy single titled 'Oscillator', along with the announcement of their fifth full length studio album, due for release on November 8th, 2024.
The new track, 'Oscillator', ebbs and flows between the enchantingly melodic chorus where vocalist/keytarist Alex Reade flourishes in the limelight with her hauntingly beautiful vocals and the powerful prowess of screamer Sean Harmanis, who delivers his vocal duties on top of low tuned instrumentals, consisting of a blend of synth elements and intricate compositions, which would turn any room of still standing humans into a rough slew of bodies being flung around a mosh pit, so start stretching now in preparation for when this group hit your city on their upcoming tour later this month/early next month.
To give us further insight on the track, the band goes on to say:
"Oscillator is more than just a song about screen addiction; it delves into the profound impact this addiction has on mental health. As we become more reliant on this constant source of stimulation, our baseline joy and excitement for life in general becomes lowered. I believe we are currently facing a mental health crisis, largely attributable to screen addiction."
Having maintained their position at the forefront of the newer generation of heavy Australian bands to take over the world, it's an exciting prospect to wonder at how album number five is sure to further push the band on their path of an upwards trajectory.
As for the title of their 5th LP, the band highlighted the significance of heading down the self-titled path, revealing:
"The decision to self-title our latest record was a significant one... It stands as an authentic representation of the band's sound. We loved our band name in the early years, however, through all these years of growth, we believe the songs on this album are the best representation of "Make Them Suffer" as a name and, more importantly, as our vision for the band. The album represents years of growth, evolution of sound, and is a ‘full circle’ representation of that vision."
A new dawn has arrived and Make Them Suffer are here to live up to their name welcomely.
