To The Grave Return with Fearsome And Formidable Single, ‘Dead Wrong’, Alongside Album Announcement

There is perhaps no gnarlier entity within the Australian deathcore scene than To The Grave, and now so, they are more prevalent than ever. Coming off the back of their outstanding and acclaimed 2023 release, Director’s Cuts, the Sydney band is back with a bang- not just with a new single, but with the announcement that a brand new album is waiting in the wings.

As macabre and gruesome as ever, To The Grave is continuing to spread their passion for veganism, and heated attitudes toward slaughter and consumerism. From the explicit and blood-ridden album cover, to the title itself, Everyone’s A Murderer, the band has not dwindled in their defenses for a moment, rallying the same force and brutally honest output that has found them so prolific for many years. With a solid ten tracks, the album is set for release on August 30th

Of course, the entree has been served in the form of today's single, ‘Dead Wrong’. Employing the help of Micheal Kearney of Empty Cages and 10 To The Chest, the track is a formidable matchup of the most haunting vocals within the scene, each voice forcing its counterpart to descend into even more hellish and mutilated soundscapes.

‘Dead Wrong’ speeds into its intro, with deep and blaring drums drawing you in from the moment the play button is pressed. Not before long, a series of guttural growls welcomes you into the world of visceral imagery; painting lenses of blood and guts seeping around you. The track, at many moments, diverts from the regularites of deathcore, instead housing elements that almost sound thematically punk, and add an ounce of energy to the grizzly topic at hand. Instrumentally, ‘Dead Wrong’ spirals into intoxicating moments of pure craftsmanship and exciting riffage, especially towards the breakdown, where the guitar takes center stage. If that wasn't enough to capture, deep and penetrating kick drums, fighting along heavy bass chugs will leave you unable to focus on anything else.

Just before the breakdown hits, a rhythmic heart monitor guides you towards it. A harsh reminder that places the song back into a realm of reality, emphasizing the real-life consequences that arise from the conversations taking place. Closing out on iconic and guttural pig squeals, the track’s messages ring out in a chilling way.

This song itself is inextricably connected to To The Grave in every aspect. Alongside their usual musical signatures and intrinsic storytelling style, the track finds moments to blare out their namesake and roots, setting a scene for an album that is by To The Grave, and for To The Grave; unresponsive to outside influences and opinions, which in turn, sees the band at their most unapologetic yet.

As for the album, Dane shares

"For this record my aim was to speak through the faceless activists that fight for animals, for those living in dystopia feeling alone and helpless in a world that will fight tooth and nail to defend the animal holocaust. Due to it being illegal to rescue farmed animals from abuse these activists must stay silent about it to avoid having their own freedom taken.

It wasn't an easy task, it's never going to do justice to the horrors animals go through every day by the millions in cold, dark sheds around the world or to those that have witnessed it and are doing everything they can to put an end to it. There's no words, no lyrics and no music that can describe the violence or bring back the lives stolen by human hands, so this is for them."
