“We had a bloke shit his pants”CHOOF ARE HITTING THE ROAD THIS WEEK.That’s not an announcement. That’s a warning.Choof have been caged up at Goatsound Studios recording their upcoming album and these four flogs from Melbourne are ready to vent their pent up rage on the poor punters of Australia. With threats of chaos, violence, verbal assault, bodily fluids and begging for money, Choof are set to bring some good old-fashioned fun-time debauchery that may be difficult to watch, but impossible to look away from. Wall Of Sound got a chance to speak with frontman Jake Seymour ahead of this Friday’s tour launch at Elton Chongs in Penrith, NSW and the last time they ventured there, things got proper messy.
“Man, the last time we played there, it’s probably one of the wildest shows we've ever played. It is an absolute little just hole in the wall venue. The people who run it are lovely. But man we had nudity, we had a bloke shit his pants, setting legal currency on fire. It was just one of those shows that you look back and go, I don't know how this all came together. So I'm hoping Penrith shows up again.”
For anyone wondering if someone cacking their dacks at a Choof show is a common thing…
“It's never happened before and we found out afterwards because the venue manager found him face down in the gutter. She realised he pissed himself and then flipped him over and realised he'd also shit himself. They got in contact later and the flyer for Elton Chong's is him passed out. He requested that the next time we come back, we use him in a state of total disgrace as the flyer. We did what we could. Tom (from support band Carnal Viscera) banged it up. So yeah, he might be there in all his glory.”
That flyer needs to be a shirt.
“100% I really do think that he's deserving. At the very least, it's an upcoming Choof sticker. I can tell you that much. He's a hero to us.”

As for the tour itself, stickers aren’t the only thing Choof are coming armed with. For starters, they’ve got new music in the barrel. The lads have been holed up at Goatsound Studios recording their forthcoming album which they’ll be road testing on the already blown-out hearing of the rabble on hand.
“We booked five days with (Jason) Fuller, and Squiz (King Parrot) came down and did production and kept us on track. We knocked it out in, I think, four days. So we got through it way quicker than we thought. We've got 20 tracks for the album. We've got two for a split. So we’ll see where they end up. But we'll focus on the album for now. It’s mastered, sequenced, the album art’s done. Literally today, doing a big collage for the record insert. So yeah, we just put bells and whistles on it and then it's time to shop it. See who's stupid enough to put it out.”
Finding someone to put the album out shouldn’t be too hard a job, given that Choof have quickly garnered a reputation as one of the Aussie underground's must-see live acts. They’ve managed to gather a solid fanbase, with sold out shirt designs adorning punters across the country at festivals and local shows alike. It has to be an unreal feeling to get that sort of response from fans in such a short time.
“Man it's awesome. We just shoved it down everyone's throat from the get go. Feb of 2022, we hit the road straight after COVID and since then we've knocked out 75 or 80 shows. We’ve hit everywhere in Australia we possibly can. So it's like every time, more people show up and more people have been dragged down to come see this absolute fucking freak show. Or it's people who know what the deal is. So now they're in there and they're part of the problem. So it's great.”

“We've toured with King Parrot and so I know there's always going to be fruit, or there's going to be an ear of broccoli around or something. So if I can pinch it and hurl it at some motherfuckers and that's perfect. That's all I can ask for.”
Hurling fruit at the rabble was the least of it, and if you want to know what else goes on at the show, there’s only one way to find out. And as for the upcoming album. What’s it called, when do we see it? Please?
“We're hoping to have it out by the end of the year, if not, beginning of next year. But the sooner the better. A Very Special Blend Of Psychology And Extreme Violence. Yeah, it's a quote. But we won't say from where. You guys will just have to try and find it.”
As for the live show, even though you’ve been warned, you’re still not ready. So how do you prepare for such an event? Jake will tell ya.
“Bring your adult diapers. Come get in the pit.”
