One of the newest heavy hitters in the Adelaide metalcore scene KIN. has been making quite a name for themselves lately. Impressing crowds in their numerous support slots and getting pits moving in an instant, the young band have been going from strength to strength.

With the release of their latest single 'Come And See' this week, we had a chat with bass player Eli Reardon about the origins of KIN.

"We’ve all had experience playing in other bands from varying genres (Mauvais, Signals, Choosing Sides, Sasha, Akura, Days of Deceit), and this helped us meet each other through going to shows and being part of the local scene!" Eli explains. "Our guitarist, Adan, started the project with our previous vocalist, and got us all on board shortly after. Around the time of recording our new release, we got our current vocalist Louie on board."

The band dropped into the scene last year with their first EP [chaos]. Met with much fanfare, the tracks translated incredibly well live, ensuring that this current release 'Come And See' was met with much anticipation. Eli broke down the approach for both releases.

"The process for this one was similar to the EP. Adan wrote the riffs and put the song structure together. Then individual parts were refined by each member for their respective instrument, with producer Jared Nettle being an important part of getting the most juice from the song. The main difference in process for this song was lyrically: It was inspired by an old Soviet movie that goes by the same name (Come and See) - it's a horrific must watch."

Truly capturing the essence of the movie, the track is gritty and hard-hitting. Vocalist Louie's growls rip through the heavy soundtrack, dipping into the lower ranges with some nasty gutturals. The breakdown is perfection- which is essential for a band that has proclaimed themselves as a 'mosh friendly' band.

So if you enjoy 'Come and See' then there is good news. The release is the second song off the band's up-coming two-track ‘[inflict]’, with the other track ‘Crush’ to be released on May 29th with an accompanying music video. The release is not the only big thing to be happening for KIN. in May. Recently, they were announced as the Adelaide support for the upcoming Vilfy Fever Dream Tour. Another incredible opportunity for the guys, as they have managed to pick up some incredible support slots since hitting the scene.

"We are absolutely stoked with every show we’ve had the opportunity to play on. I think our highlight has been getting to support The Gloom in the Corner with PROMPTS and HEAVENSGATE. That was such a well-received show for us, and we all love those bands. We’re extremely excited to play with Vilify! They kick ass and their new EP is awesome and everybody should be listening to it!"
