If you thought Avengers: Endgame was the greatest superhero crossover in history? Think again...Today the official trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine landed and it's chock-a-block full of references, throwbacks, cameos and comic-accurate X-Men characters for the first time since Disney/Marvel bought out 20th Century Fox - so they can no longer ruin our childhoods with sub-par film adaptations... looking at you Dark Phoenix!While the plot still remains unknown experts nerds like myself have put together what we believe to be a storyline based on clues and sneak-peeks from both trailers released so far.After being recruited by the Time Variance Alliance agent Paradox (MatthewMacFadyen) in the initial teaser trailer, Deadpool aka WadeWilson (RyanReynolds) has to enlist the help of Wolverine aka Logan (HughJackman) to save the world - and those he loves the most - by travelling through time across the multiverse for a mission that will change the MCU forever.[gallery type="rectangular" columns="2" ids="https://wallofsoundau.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/cassandra-nova-comic.png|,https://wallofsoundau.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/cassandra-nova.png|"]What that mission is - remains unknown for now - but in doing so, the pair come across CasandraNova (EmmaCorrin) aka Professor Xavier's evil twin, who seems hellbent on stopping them, alongside her team of new and former on-screen mutant favs such as Toad (X-Men), Azazel (X-Men: First Class), Calisto (X-Men: The Last Stand) and LadyDeathstrike (X2 aka X-Men 2). Former X-Man-turned-Brotherhood of Mutants member, Pyro (AaronStanford), also showed up in a surprise unexpected cameo in the teaser trailer, so let's assume he's somewhere in that team of baddies too.Nova's powers are unlike any other in the X-Men universe and she poses the biggest threat of any villain in the past - yep, including you Apocalypse.
While the theme seems to be focusing on variants [other versions of characters] from different universes, we can expect a cavalcade of Deadpools, superstars and cameos from the entire MCU - including the Avengers and X-Men series - as well as our first potential look at the new Fantastic Four cast that's been announced.Anything goes, especially the crude humour and fourth wall breaking we know and love from the Deadpool franchise.
