Disentomb Roar Back To Life Ahead Of National Tour With New Single 'Drear Prophecies'

Ahead of their national run of shows with Sanguisugabogg - which starts tonight! - Australia's lords of extremity Disentomb have unveiled their first new material in three years; the relentless single 'Drear Prophecies'. As if that's not enough for brutal death metal fans, the Brisbane four-piece has also dropped some (but not all) of the details of their upcoming EP, Nothing Above.

The newest single is five minutes of skin-flaying punishment, with inhuman vocals, swirling riffage, and a vortex of drum work. It’s not just a wave of noise, though; with Disentomb‘s patented ‘sloom’/’bleakened’ style coming through in the dense middle and outro sections, as the slowed-down groove and dissonant lines add just a pinch of dark melodicism oft-heard in the brutal death metal world.
While we’re not privy to the release date Nothing Above or other specifics – yet – we do know the new EP is due for release at some point this year via Unique Leader Records. Combine this news with the nearing national tour-dates with Sanguisugabogg, and 2024 has all the potential to be one of the biggest years of Disentomb‘s career.
