International Death Metal Juggernauts Aborted Open Their Vault of Horrors With 'Death Cult'
With 2023 already fading off into the distance, it's time for heavy music aficionados to brace themselves for the wave of fresh tunes this new year has in store for us. One of the first groups to start their '24 on the front foot is the unstoppable multi-national death metal machine Aborted. Not only have they dropped a brutal new track 'Death Cult', but also all the details of their upcoming, guest-filled opus Vault of Horrors.Formed by frontman Sven de Caluwé in the mid-90s, Aborted has evolved from a gnarly grindcore troupe into one of the most consistent - and purest - examples of death metal in the contemporary scene. Out March 15th through Nuclear Blast Records, the Belgian/American/Icelandic ensemble's 12th full length Vault of Horrors sees the band go whole-hog on the horror movie worship, with every track paying homage to screen (or scream?) classics of old and new.Inspired by the classic film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, blistering first single 'Death Cult' packs all the Aborted hallmarks - raging drum work, fleet-fingered guitar riffs, ear-grabbing passages and de Caluwé's savage, multi-faceted vocal attack. The mosh-ready ending is locked down with a wall of six-strings and wild double kicks behind a massive groove, with guest vocals from Despised Icon's Alex Erian further sweetening the deal.Speaking of guests, Vault of Horrors is covered in them - in fact, every damn track features one!
