The Halo Effect Keep The New Music Coming With Fresh Single 'The Defiant Ones'

Having recently hit Australian and NZ shores headlining the touring Lagerfest lineup, Swedish melodic death metal supergroup The Halo Effect have dropped a brand spanking new single 'The Defiant One'. Though being featured in the band's live set as far back as February this year, the fresh track serves as the group's second new tune for the year, following the previously released 'Path Of Fierce Resistance'.A crowd-pleasing slab of melodic death metal, 'The Defiant One' is a straight-to-the-point, mid-tempo riffer; it's big, classic chorus clearly built for the live stage. Frontman MikaelStanne's harsh vocals perfectly intertwine with the soaring guitar melodies and tom-driven drum beats, while the usage of subtle keyboards fill-in the more restrained verses.Comprised of former members from Gothenburg metal institution In Flames, it only feels like the melodeath legend's 2022 debut Days of the Lost came out last week. Though music history has plenty examples of supergroups burning out as fast as they appear, it's clear this isn't a 'one and done' project for the Swedes, with the excellent new 'The Defiant One' showing that there is far more to The Halo Effect than resting on their illustrious laurels.Frontman MikaelStanne comments:

"´The Defiant One´ was recorded during the Days of the Lost sessions and has been one of the songs we have played live last year. So in order to hold you over before we present you with what we have written and recorded for the next album here is ´The Defiant One´. The video was shot at Pustervik, Gothenburg during our sold-out tour of Sweden and it captures us in our hometown among some of our closest friends. Enjoy!”

We eagerly anticipate their next move and this sophomore album.Words by Andrew Kapper@andrew_kapper
