Get Hooked on RedHook's Tantalising New Single 'Tourist'

Loony, Sydney rebels, RedHook are always just a stone’s throw away from their next groovy hit sensation. Since the beginning, our punky pals entered the scene with immense force through pure talent and skill in all departments of the band. Flying through to a unique range of modernised alternative, pop-punk, nu-metal, rock & post-hardcore in their musical mix, everything they pump out is always a happy surprise in terms of you never know what you’re going to get, but you damn well know it’s gonna be good!

Not too long ago the world was finally bestowed with debut album Postcard From A Living Hell (2023) containing a sick array of bangers previously heard in early 2022-2023, accompanied by their equally radiant new counterparts. Even after a huge succession of singles, EPs, and an album, RedHook isn’t remotely ready to take a back seat just yet.

Keeping that funky studio magic rolling ‘Tourist’ was crafted. Adding drops into the cauldron of inspiration from personal experience and pop culture-based references to Parks & Recreation’s Ron Swanson (Leslie Knope for President!).

Wondering why you’re suddenly dancing? That’s because the song’s started! Hitting a slow groove with programmed drums and vocal samples to congregate a smooth upbeat to hype the song before that classic RedHook single string riff kicks in with that tasty bouncy reverbed lead. Emmy Mack’s silky smooth voice feels like a spell whispered in your ears, strongly carrying the burden and feeling of heartbreak’s torture. As the harsh traumas suffocate you, you’re pulled out by an awe-inspiring chorus granting the feeling of a higher self-worth and confidence fuelled by high energetic punk beats, hard-hitting vocals and lyrics with a ‘no-more bullshit!’ attitude, and riffs so bouncy the crowd would fall through the venue floor. The song structure keeps to a simple foundation to really highlight the message branded in the chorus to let go of the past and move forward, while also keeping the bridge and extended chorus heavily in the same positive vibe.

You can especially see this visually in the music video for ‘Tourists’ when Emmy burns old authentic love letters to symbolise letting go, and healing old wounds.

Just like I said before, this crazy group are always on the go, jam-packing their life in musical escapades previously supporting Smashing Pumpkins & Jane’s Addiction earlier this year, hitting up international festivals such as Download UK and Rock For People as well as achieving their biggest headline tour to date, selling out venues across hometown Australia. Sleep is for the weak and RedHook are definitely the opposite, I have no doubt we’ll be seeing them even more (especially with their end of year festival run) but I’m always hoping to hear from them sooner! Great job as always gang.
