blink-182 Release 2 Emotionally Driven Tracks from Upcoming Album, One More Time.
On October 20th, the iconic blink-182 trio consisting of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker, will release their first album together since 2011’s Neighborhoods and 2012’s Dogs Eating Dogs EP.
This monumental moment in blinkstory has been years in the making and so far the teasers and snippets we’ve heard through their pre-release content have sounded nothing short of amazing. As you can imagine, expectations are high for the incoming record, titled One More Time, which the band explained isn’t about one last record, but more so one last time to fuck this band up (said with tongue-in-cheek gusto).
To get us prepared for the longest month of our lives, the boys have shared the emotional title track for us to brace for impact. ‘One More Time‘ sounds like a culmination of each member’s career, struggles and internal battles – put on display and expressed in an awe-inspiring new anthem.
The lyrics read like a final letter; taking into consideration the tragic circumstances the band have endured over the years, and putting it all on the table for us to hear the emotional delivery in such a raw and inviting way (for the first time):
‘I wish they told us, it shouldn’t take a sickness / or aeroplanes falling out the sky / Do I have to die to hear you miss me? / Do I have to die to hear you say goodbye? / I don’t want to act like there’s tomorrow / I don’t want to wait to do this one more time’
The way Mark and Tom bounce off each other still sounds like the ultimate best friend goals and with Travis’s very own vocals added to the fold, it makes the song feel so inclusive of each and every one of them. We’ve never heard all three guys singing on a song before, so already this new return to form for blink-182 is breaking new ground for what the band (and fans) have stated will be their best record yet.

The second song is ‘MORE THAN YOU KNOW‘ and this one has a piano-driven intro before exploding into pop punk glory. If you’re a sucker for blink’s faster and punchier punky jams you’re gonna lose your mind over this one. The boys are on fire from start to finish and it’s just an impressive core blink sound, in 2023.
As Travis says in the above interview with Zane Lowe, this iteration of the band is blink and nothing will come close to the music these three make together:
“I really feel like blink is us three and as soon as we accept that and we just don’t settle for anything else than that, I just think that’s the future”
This is the start of something magical. Can you imagine how much the setlist will change by the time the boys make it to Australia for their world tour in Feb 2024?
