blink-182 Unveil First Album with Tom DeLonge Since 2011 // New Song Out This Week
Happy New blink-182 album Day!
The iconic lineup of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker have been tearing up stages across the US for their comeback tour, which is breaking records and reigniting pop punk on a global scale. Although we won’t see the band in Australia until February 2024, we will have a stack of new material from the boys in the meantime with today’s announcement of their new album One More Time dropping on October 20th – yep, that’s next month kids!
Following on from the punk rock riffs of ‘Edging‘, the trio will also release the title track ‘One More Time‘ later this week which packs a punch both lyrically and emotionally:
‘Do I have to die to hear you miss me? / Do I have to die to hear you say goodbye? / I don’t want to act like there’s tomorrow / I don’t want to wait to do this one more time’
The band sat down for an interview to launch the new record with Zane Lowe, discussing the breakups and hiatuses they’ve (and fans have) endured over the years, reigniting that flame and indicating they’re ready to kick ass again.
Their last collaborative album was 2011’s Neighborhoods, which was their first time together since their initial hiatus in 2005 following Travis’ plane crash. Addressing the fact they only seem to regroup following catastrophes such as Mark’s recent bout with cancer, all that emotion will be displayed in their upcoming single.
I’ve always personally said that the album the band released with this lineup after their Dogs Eating Dogs EP will be their best one yet, and with samples heard throughout the clip below, it’s shaping up to sound that way too.
