Here at Wall of Sound, there are a few bands that we sit with bated breath, waiting to release new music. One of those bands is the Pennsylvanian prog-metalcore band What Lies Below and the wait is over because their latest single ‘Misguided Light’ has dropped.
Earlier in the year What Lies Below treated us with two new singles ‘bound’ and ‘LunarHaze’. The delivery of two almost contrasting tracks by these virtuosic metalcore magicians not only gave us a taste of their evolved sound but showed the potential for future releases.
Well, the future is now and ‘Misguided Light’ is the perfect follow-up. Almost like the median between the previous two singles, we are treated to both the crunchy heaviness and synth-laden goodness. Song-writing maturity and production quality it is evident this band just keeps levelling up. Vocalist Andrew Watson has us both swooning with his heavenly cleans and throwing hands to his aggressive growls.
Punchy but atmospheric, heavy but smooth- if you want a dynamic track, this is it.
