Since his departure from Architects, Josh Middleton has gone full steam ahead on the Sylosis train bringing us not two but three filthy bangers, all ahead of new record A Sign Of Things To Come - out September 8 via Nuclear Blast.

First to arrive came ‘Deadwood’, with big chugs and sweeping solos. Sylosis tear themselves back into the scene since last album release Cycle of Suffering in 2020. A few months down the track and we’re met with 'Poison For The Lost', a brutal, spin kick of a tune making it apparent it’s heavier than ‘Deadwood’, with slight sounds reminiscent of Trivium attached and Josh pushing his vocals to the max.

You can tell Middleton’s work in Architects has seeped into single ‘A Sign of Things to Come’, the intro and verses carrying heavy influence/similarities to Architects' ‘Animals', a strong guitar build up to be calmed and then carried through by the drums. A melodic, heavy yell in the chorus guided by a reminder that life hits you hard and sometimes it’s only the beginning. With this song gravitating towards a more Architects-y vibe I’m stoked to see what else Middleton has tracked down for us.

If this single is ‘A Sign Of Things To Come’ from Sylosis, you better have plates ready to smash for their first album in three years.
