The Halo Effect swept us off our feet last year with their debut record Days Of The Lost. For those still catching up (come on people), The Swedes comprise of former melodeath In Flames legends Jesper Strömblad (CYHRA guitarist), Daniel Svensson (drums), Peter Iwers (bass), Niclas Engelin (guitar) and Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity vocals).
The Nuclear Blast supergroup seemed to have also blasted some fire under the bellies of the new-age In Flames lineup, who also unloaded an impressively heavy album last year, Foregone. The Halo Effect are a few months away from the one-year anniversary of their first releasing, and it looks like they're already celebrating with single 'Path of Fierce Resistance' which was also a bonus on the record. Whilst the track isn't new, it will be for those who didn't get to chomp onto it with the release of Days Of The Lost.
Kicking off with the same prowess as the songs on last year's LP, 'Path of Fierce Resistance' includes that classic melodeath riffs, delivering the perfect output as Stanne purges the opening verse. The track develops with a similar tone throughout until it dials up with a cathartic crescendo.
On the new single, Stanne comments:
"'Path Of Fierce Resistance' is a song we wrote for the Days of the Lost album but it only surfaced on the limited Japanese edition and it has been very close to us and having it here now for all to hear feels fantastic. The new album is in the works and we are incredibly excited about it, so consider this as something to keep you guys going until we unveil what is coming next."
