Adelaide rockers Alt. have smashed us in the face with HUGE new single 'APEP' featuring Void of Vision's own Jack Bergin – a pairing fans never knew how much they needed and wanted. The fourth single from forthcoming album ABEYANCE will have heavy music lovers throwing some appreciative stank face.
One of the heaviest songs we have gotten from the band, 'APEP' starts with rad, menacing guitar riffage and is a banger from start to end. We have Dan Richards' incredible cleans, a super catchy chorus, and then Jack comes bursting in with his signature heavy vocals. We also get a fantastic melodic bridge, and the instruments are hard-hitting throughout – what's not to love?
On the new single, Richards comments:
"'APEP' is the Egyptian god of chaos and he is consuming our world. We see his impacts through the pandemic, our corrupt governments, and social media being used as a weapon to divide people. We need to realize we are not the enemy — we haven't done this to ourselves or each other. We are being used and its time to stand up and fight or this chaos will devour us all."
This band is one of my fave discoveries from the past few years after becoming obsessed with their EP dysfunctional in 2020. It helped me through the dark locky days we no longer speak of, and I am super excited for the band's debut album.
I've said it before, and I will say it again (many times), but (in my not so humble opinion) Dan has one of the best melodic voices in Aus heavy music of recent years , and to pair with one of my favourite heavy frontmen, Jack Bergin, has me damn excited. While Jack is taking a break for his health right now, hopefully, it won't be long until we see this song live with him on the stage.
The elements of the band that I loved from their EP can still be heard in their newer releases, but the leap they have made so far on these new songs shows the band is ready to carve their path and take the place they deserve.
