Remember how we started 2022 with a deathcore monsoon? Fit For An Autopsy and Shadow of Intent both released seminal records Oh What The Future Holds and Elegy respectively, and it set the bar really high for the rest of the year. Well, joining these heavy afficionados were Massachusetts outfit Worm Shepherd with their sophomore record Ritual Hymns.

The album followed debut LP In the Wake Ov Sòl, including key track 'The Frozen Lake'. A few years on and the deathcore group have now released a sequel to the original single called 'The Frozen Lake Pt. 2 (The Ruined)' via Unique Leader Records.

Spanning over seven-minutes, this track will knock you out with its chaos. Worm Shepherd deliver Lorna Shore-esque squeals alongside experimental symphonic components and a standard overlay of dark brutality. The production is stepped up and each breakdown will consequently melt your face off.

On the new single, vocalist Devin Duarte comments:

“The Frozen Lake Pt. II (The Ruined) is about forgiveness of self. We live in a world where perfection is expected of everyone at all times. No one is perfect whether they want to admit it or not and we all would be doing ourselves better to stop running from and ignoring all of these imperfections and mistakes. Once people learn to accept the reality of their humanity, we can start to focus on working through those mistakes, learning new lessons, and being better people overall. That’s what it’s about. Stop putting on a show. Stop being ashamed of yourself. Before there is no more you to speak of.

Be true to yourselves, and understanding of those around you. That is how learning, and improving is done.”
