nothing,nowhere Unveils New Album + Drops 'THIRST4VIOLENCE' Feat. FREDDIE DREDD & SILVERSTEIN
Are we seeing a dynamic shift in heavy/core music taking a turn into hip-hop territory?
Last week the new track from Melbourne/Naarm-based act BenchCup proved that trapcore has a place in the scene, and now nothing,nowhere (currently touring around Australia for the first time) has unleashed a brand new song from his upcoming album, and it's continuing on that same path.
'THIRST4VIOLENCE' is a concoction of elements from both territories, with the added vocals from Shane Told of Silverstein and hip-hop artist FREDDIE DREDD. Upon first listen, I can hear plenty of similarities in style and sound to what I Prevail are currently doing, but with a much rawer overall feel. Connections can be linked back to Linkin Park too, who were paving their name in nu-metal 20 years ago leading up to the release of their second album Meteora. Have we come across the next phase of 'core' music?
Either way, it's fresh, exciting and has me wondering who else will jump on the bandwagon.
On the new song, Joe Mulherin (aka N,N) says:
“I learned to channel my sadness into positive aggression. I hope people listen to this track while bettering themselves. Working out, taking a drive to blow off some steam, just getting out and getting shit done.”
While ShaneTold of Silverstein adds:
“It feels amazing to repay the favour to Joe, after his appearance on my song ‘Live Like This’ last year. I’ve been a big fan of his work for a long time and this song only took things to another level. It’s such an honour to be part of another game changing record.”
nothing,nowhere's new album VOID ETERNAL is set for release on March 31st and features a cavalcade of scene stars including WillRamos (LornaShore), Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), BuddyNielson (SensesFail) and Underoath.
