Wall of Sound Presents: “2022 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by Diesect’s Damien Bigara

Diesect metalcore band

We’ve been following the rise of Gold Coast metal/core outfit Diesect for a couple of years now and they’re just getting bigger and heavier with every release. In 2022 the group released their Snake Eater EP and followed it up with one final single ‘A Different Kind of Alone‘ to round out the year – which saw them supporting the likes of ERRA, Fit For A King, Dregg, and a co-headliner with ATLVS.

Their last hometown show in November also resulted in the floor breaking at Vinnie’s Dive Bar and if that’s an indication of what to expect at one of their gigs, you need to make sure your 2023 goals include checking them out ASAP – psssst they’re playing with Xile and APATE in Feb!

We grabbed frontman Damien Bigara to take us through the year that was and to tell us about the music he frothed all year long with our next Wall of Sound Year in Review

FAVOURITE GIG YOU PLAYED THIS YEAR

Probably a tie between our two headline release shows at Vinnies Dive Bar (first in April and last in November), all expectations I had for both of those were completely blown away and they’ll definitely go down as a huge milestone for us

BIGGEST WTF OR WHOLESOME MOMENT FOR YOU/YOUR BAND

I think selling out the Brisbane date of our tour with Atlvs, we’d never done that before and having so many people pull up to the show and know every word was absolutely surreal. I honestly thought the venue had made a mistake when they told us it sold out and was worried no one was actually coming haha

ANY SNEAK PEEKS OF YOUR 2023 PLANS FOR FANS

Having an even bigger year than last, always want to push and outdo ourselves so I think this year will be a great test for us considering the amazing year we’ve had

BEST ADVICE GOING INTO 2023

Pursue what you’re passionate about and invest in yourself!
