Time and time again I’ve written these words and time and time again I’ve been hurt…. but, today is the day that the official announcement has been made that Mr Tom DeLonge has rejoined his blink-182 brothers, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, and the trio are set to embark on the biggest world tour of their entire lives!
Spear-headed by Live Nation, the tour will see the band make their debut appearances in Latin America in March 2023, before popping up on festivals and arena shows all across the world throughout the rest of 2023, before wrapping things up in Australia and New Zealand – YES DOWN HERE FOR THE FIRST TIME TOGETHER IN ALMOST 20 YEARS – in February 2024.
During his absence, blink never made it back to Australia, but since Travis married Kourtney Kardashian, he’s been slowly easing back into the flying world and, as hope would have it, the band plan on heading down under in early 2024, which will be Tom and Mark’s first visit to Australia together since Soundwave Festival 2013, and Travis’ first venture back down under since their 2004 arena tour. 20 years go. 20. YEARS.
But the surprises don’t stop there, the lads will be releasing a new song on Friday titled ‘Edging‘ (our review here) – which is the first piece of material the band recorded in studio together in a decade. I would like to write more but my brain is having trouble comprehending all of this information at once. The infamous’ trio’s last release was the Dogs Eating Dogs EP (dropped in 2012) – so now, more than ever, it’s one hell of a time to be a blink-182 fan! New album inbound in 2023 too.
Tom is back and @blink182 have announced a World Tour! They’re coming to Australia in FEB 2024 with special guest @riseagainst 🔥 Presale starts Wed 19 Oct @ 1PM (local). On the news, the band shared:
We’re coming. Tour’s coming. Album’s coming. Tom’s coming. Tickets for the world tour go on sale starting Monday, 10/17 at 10am local. New Single “Edging” out on 10/14
The past few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least and for now, I can’t wait to do what I’ve always done, sink into the band’s back catalogue and prepare my mind, body (and credit card) for the influx of shows the band are set to embark on. A legacy is reborn (again) and we’d love to welcome Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker back as the definitive lineup of blink one eighty fucking two!
