The Wonder Years Will Pull Tears from Your Eyes with ‘Old Friends Like Lost Teeth’

There’s your fun loving pop punk anthems that just put you in a good mood and make you want to live out your best life – then there’s the emotional side of the genre that makes you feel like ripping your heart out and putting it on display for the world to see, judge, feel and comfort and the latter is what you’re gonna wanna do when you rip into The Wonder Years‘ new single ‘Old Friends Like Lost Teeth‘ which is taken from their upcoming seventh studio album The Hum Goes On Forever – out September 23rd via Hopeless Records.

As it begins we’re slowly met by a welcoming guitar riff and drum combo that take us up to frontman Dan ‘Soupy’ Campbell‘s iconic vocal delivery full of emotion, pizzaz and a heartfelt message about losing a friend close to you. The entire track is a journey through the foggy haze one feels in those difficult moments and I can foresee this once again becoming an anthem for helping someone get over their loss. While life gets hard and something all you wanna do is just fade away into oblivion, chuck this on, close your eyes and remember the good times. It’ll help at least I’m sure!

When talking about the song, Dan explained:

“As much as I try not to dwell on loss, I can’t help myself from thinking about it, writing about it, singing about it… This is a song for another friend who passed too soon and about how I wish I could stop myself from opening the sutures, about how I know it’ll be painful to play live, and how powerless I am to do anything else.”

As we grow older, sometimes we just have to take control of our own narrative and when life is looking like it’s in the dumps, we turn to music to help us understand our feelings better – The Wonder Years are one of the BEST bands who capture raw emotion in their music and turn it into helpful tunes that soothe the soul.

Get keen on their new album, it’s gonna induce more tears than you knew you were capable of producing!
