Enter Shikari Bounce Back with ‘The Void Stares Back’ ft. Wargasm

Enter Shikari are one of those bands we know and love from the scene because of their catchy hooks and collective hand clapping for ‘Sorry You’re Not A Winner‘ (ummm gang, it’s been 15 years since Take to the Skies first debuted) and since the release of their stellar album, Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible, back in 2020 (as the pandemic started) the band have kept audiences and fans up to date and entertained with their musical lives by dabbling in experiences like their Live lockdown video series and banter-filled chats with our very own Ebony Story to help celebrate their album!

But, before they head back on the road again, hitting up Australia in November alongside Creeper and Windwaker, they’ve got some new material to release it seems and the first new track they’ve got to offer is called ‘The Void Stares Back‘ featuring fellow UK duo Wargasm.

Those catchy hooks and chorus sections are back on this one, with frontman Rou Reynolds‘ iconic vocals serving up a warm hug for your soul as the electronic sounds around him indicate they’re continuing on that journey to blend rock and EDM together in a way that only THEY can nail. Wargasm‘s Milkie Way offers her fast-spoken rap style to the mould with an electronic breakdown-esque section of screams taking me by surprise. It’s definitely a grower, but if you’ve been appreciating the band exploring the synth driven direction they’ve taken fans on since the release of 2015’s The Mindsweep, then this will be yet another new hit for you to hold close to yourself… If you’re here for a full track of those raw screams and heaviness from that 15-year-old album mentioned earlier, it’s time to move on!

On the new song, Rou says:

“It is with elation, and more than a little nervousness, that we release this; our first track after over two years of dormancy. It is a roisterous journey made all the more so with the addition of our friends Wargasm. Thematically, the piece is about the forward march of social progress, and how, often, those with a more conventional archaic outlook on sexuality, gender, social design, economics etc, see those with differing ideas like bewildering, depraved creatures from another dimension.”

Can’t wait to see how they transition this from studio quality to a live setting in November! Get your tickets here!
